John "Jack" H. Ring
John "Jack" H. Ring, age 83, died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Erie Presbyterian Homes. He was born in Erie on December 26, 1926, the son of the late William and Lillian Trost Ring.
He was employed at and retired from Parker White Metal after forty-six years. He was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club and the Elks Lodge. He was an avid bowler on two senior leagues, loved walking on Presque Isle, and was a huge University of North Carolina basketball fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Kraft Ring, four sisters: Camilla, Kathryn, Isabel, and, Patricia and four brothers: Wilfred, Kenneth, Gerald, and Milton. He is survived by two daughters, Kim Darnofall (Mike) of Durham, NC and Chris Merz (Jeff) of Millcreek, three grandchildren: Molly Hodge (James) and Kevin Darnofall of Durham, NC, and Megan Merz of Millcreek; great-grandson, Patrick Hodge, two sisters, Jeanne Jackson and Ellen Wellmon, dear friend, Joyce Shaner, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and are invited there on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. for the funeral service. Private interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Presque Isle Partnership c/o the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, 301 Peninsula Drive, Erie, PA 16505.
