Obituary of Stefania Anderson

Stefania Wolchik Anderson Stefania "Stephanie" Wolchik Anderson, 81, of Erie, died Thursday, March 01, 2012, at the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center where she had been a resident for the past five years. She was born in Albion, on September 21, 1930, the daughter of the late, Michael D. and Anna Herrick Wolchik. She graduated from Albion High School with honors and attended Edinboro State College, majoring in Home Economics. After marrying and having two daughters, she lived in Gowanda, NY. While working and caring for her family, she competed in the Mrs. New York State Pageant as Mrs. Gowanda. Later, after returning to Erie, Stephanie joined the First United Methodist Church of Erie where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Stephanie worked in the medical field for many years as a laboratory technologist, periodontal assistant, and dental assistant/office manager. Music was just one of her many interest and talents. Stephanie played the piano and organ "by ear", had a beautiful singing voice, was an avid reader, and loved to learn. She loved to bake and won numerous awards for her pies and baked goods. She enjoyed outdoor activities; walking, biking, gardening, picnicking, and enjoying God's creation were very important to her throughout her life. She will be remembered for her faith, elegance, beautiful smile, and her love of family. She is survived by Willard D. Anderson of Kane, PA and her two devoted daughters, Deborah Anderson Gunsallus (Brooke) and their son, Brett, of Brownsville, PA, Kathleen Anderson Summers (John) of Millcreek, one sister, Olga A. Wolchik of Erie, one brother Leon Wolchik (Olga) of Erie, sisters-in-law, Mary Wolchik of Erie, Ruth Wolchik of Girard, and many nieces and nephews. Stephanie was preceded in death by four brothers: Walter, Daniel, Fred, and Steve Wolchik and one sister, Helen Wolchik Canale. Friends may call at the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center Chapel on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service there at 3:00 p.m. A reception will immediately follow the service. Private interment. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
