Sallie Kathryn Mooney Carneval passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 22, 1930 in Jamestown, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Hegerty Foley and Thomas Mooney and her step-father Mack Foley. Sallie graduated from Warren Area H.S. in 1948. She was a 1951 graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing. She married Daniel C. Carneval on July 25, 1953.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Daniel Carneval, her children: Timothy, William, Patricia (Brian), Daniel P. (Michelle), and Kathleen Elson (Thomas). She is further survived by her grandchildren: Christopher, Sarah, Lyndsey, Todd, Diane, Luke, Blake, Craig, and Matt as well as great-grandchildren; Ava, Ben, and Maverick. She is also survived by her brother Thomas Mooney of Warren, PA, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Sallie was a nurse for her husband’s early medical practice. She and her husband were founding members of Our Lady of Peace R.C. parish and where she was one of the Cafeteria Ladies at the school. She traveled the city in a paneled station wagon; taking kids to the Peninsula, sport’s practices, golf, and the pool. She also enjoyed going to the casino, traveling to golf tournaments, morning discussions at the donut shop, she loved morning feedings of her backyard menagerie of birds, turkeys, and small animals, and during Gannon University basketball games over a period of thirty years, one could hear Sallie’s cow bell after each basket scored.
Sallie enjoyed dancing to Frank Sinatra and she cherished her evening glass of wine. She was one of the best pie bakers around and cared very much about others; always ready to help and pray for those who needed a prayer. She always said that “everything will work out”.
The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Sallie’s many wonderful caregivers from Interim Meadville and Home Instead and physicians; especially Dr. Robert Dugan and Dr. David Strasser, and a special family friend.
Services were privately conducted at the convenience of the family through the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
