Obituary of Sylvia Dell Scully

Sylvia Dell (Sampson) Scully “Nanny 2”, age 84 of Erie, passed away on Tuesday October 1, 2019 at her home, following a brief illness.  She was born in Erie on April 25, 1935 a daughter of the late James and Helen (Smith) Sampson.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her former husband John Scully; one son, Ron; two brothers, James and John and one sister, Luetta.     

 

Sylvia was a lifelong resident of Erie and worked for Dr. Thomas Welch DDS.  She was a former member of the Siebenbuerger and Zukor Club.  She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

 

She is survived by her children, John (Fran) Scully, Karen (AL) Platz and Stephen (Kim) Scully; two sisters, Virginia and Patty; eight grandchildren, Chuck, Andrea, Danny, Amanda, Taylor, Kayla, Connor and Kyle and five great-grandchildren. 

 

 

Funeral services were private and held at the convenience of the family with interment In Laurel Hill Cemetery.  Arrangements were under the care of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, PA 16506.
