Obituary of Walter R. Hartman

HEADLINE: “When my room is ready God will call me home”

 

Walter R. “Ray” Hartman, age 82 of Lake City and formerly of Lawrence Park, entered into the arms of Jesus surrounded by his loving family on October 23, 2018.  He was born in Toby Twp., Clarion County, PA on January 23, 1936 a son of the late Milo and Grace Whitmore Hartman.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Vivian Larue Hiegel and one brother, Edwin Weckerly.

 

Ray worked in the maintenance department at Pyramid Plastics for 25 years and worked for ten years at the Waterfall Restaurant.  

 

He is survived by his wife Betty Richards Hartman; two sons, Brian Thornton and Anson Thornton; four grandchildren, Taylor, Anson, Marissa and Aaron Thornton; nieces and nephew, Alisha Enterline, Linda Somoles and Ed Somoles, whom he helped raise with his mother and they thought of him as a father; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of Great Lakes Hospice for all their wonderful care and support during Ray’s final days.

 

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, and are invited to a funeral service there on Monday morning at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery.
