Obituary of Mary Ellen Hanson

Mary Ellen Hanson, age 91, passed away on Monday March 5, 2018 at St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge.  She was born in Erie on March 23, 1926, a foster daughter of the late Neil J. and Mazie McKinney Allen.

 

She was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School Class of 1945.

 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard J. Hanson whom she married on January 22, 1949 and one daughter, Nancy A. Blumish.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Diane E. (Rod) Baumgardner of Hyattsville, Maryland and Mary Lou (Dan) Dean of Fairborn, OH; five grandchildren, Renée Baumgardner, Philip Dean, Fie Charron, David M. and James A. Blumish and several great-grandchildren. 

 

The family wishes to thank the staff of Neighborhood D at St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge for the wonderful care provided for Mom. 

 

No visiting hours were observed, and private burial was held in Laurel Hill Cemetery.  Funeral Arrangements are under the care of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Erie City Mission, 1023 French St. Erie, PA 16512 or the charity of one’s choice.
